As seen on the TV programme 'Grand Designs' this unique Tuscan castle that has been lovingly restored from the ground up. Five bedrooms, five terraces and a swimming pool. Stunning location.
Overlooking the manmade lake of Montedoglio and about 20 minutes from the pretty Tuscan town of Sansepolcro, this meticulously restored mini-castle is on the edge of a tiny hamlet and measures approximately 350 square metres in size.
The inner gates of the property date back to the 11th century whilst the towers are slightly more recent, being constructed in the 13th and 14th centuries along with some parts of the main building. The restoration took over 5 years to complete and the owner strived to maintain the integrity of this important structure.
A fully equipped modern kitchen leads out to one of the five panoramic terraces that all offer south facing views over the lake and mountain ranges that can only be described as breathtaking. One of the five is occupied by a 10 x 4 metre swimming pool. The castle has 5 double bedrooms. All fittings are of excellent quality and the under floor heating provides modern day comfort in a medieval environment. The unusual windows, some of which measure over 4 square metres, provide this property with an abundance of light, an unusual commodity for any fortified building.
A detached tower offers further guest accommodation on three floors. Not all of the original space has been recuperated and it could be possible, with permission, to re-instate sections of the property that have not been utilised as yet. An unusual property in a truly stunning location.
